Faith in Action is a small Christian Charity, which was set up in 1984 at the direct inspiration of God by Sally Jeffree from Crawley West Sussex.

As the name suggests, Faith in Action seeks to minister the love of Jesus in practical ways to the people of various countries in Africa. Through this organisation, we, at Plume Avenue are linked with the Faith in Action Church, which comprises about 900 congregations in Southern Malawi and Mozambique, led by a fine Christian leader, Lameck Msmange. Several of us have met Lameck when he visited this country. He pastors an area in Southern Malawi called the Lower Shire, where the inhabitants are subsistence farmers, living in mud and thatch houses. Sally travels to Malawi Several times a year when she holds teaching seminars for the pastors and also confers with the church leaders to monitor existing projects and to seek new ways of helping those poor and vulnerable people to help themselves. Projects have included trails of new and drought resistant crops irrigation systems, sinking wells, the provision of animals and vehicles for income generation and purchase of bicycle ambulances. Sally keeps in frequent telephone contact with Lameck and the other church leaders, so we receive regular news and are alerted to emergency situations requiring our prayer and practical help.

As a response to on-going emergency need, we regularly collect good quality second hand summer weight clothing for Malawi. The Faith in Action church leaders distributes the clothing to the village people who have very few possessions. These gifts of clothing and other items are sent as a love gift, which ministers the love of Jesus to the individual and encourages the church leaders.
