Liz Bird successfully completed her TLS course last summer and is now an accredited lay preacher of the URC. She was commissioned at last week’s morning service. During the service Liz shared her journey to this point and thanked everyone for their support and encouragement. Congratulations Liz from all of us at Plume.

Many of the psalms are written in the midst of real life situations. They are a response by their authors to the circumstances of the time. Some speak of desperation, some speak of repentance, some of sorrow and others of great joy. Whilst we can often relate to the situation of the writers we may find it more difficult to relate to their responses. The writers of the Psalms speak profoundly of the character and nature of God and convey great conviction and faith that amongst all of life’s circumstances God is their. During September we shall be looking through some of the Psalms and asking ourselves the question ‘What does this tell us of the character of God’? As we do so we soon realise that these songs do not dwell in the past or even live for the moment but they are concerned with the eternal nature of God and his character.
You are most welcome to come and join us and hear these great songs of hope. Every blessing, Geoff Felton.
