About Plume

Plume Avenue URC Church

Plume Avenue United Reformed Church is a spiritual family, home to some 200 adults and 100 children and young people. We began life as a ‘Mission station’ planted by one of the major town centre churches, and we endeavour to make Christian mission the focus of all that we do.

At the heart of the local community, we have strong links with the local schools and seek to live out the gospel as an act of witness. Local mission is taken seriously, as well as our support for world mission. We have a very strong link with a group of churches in Malawi through ‘Faith in Action’ charity.

We are committed to biblical expository teaching and hold to an ‘evangelical’ ethos. We worship in a relaxed and informal style, and seek to include people of all ages and traditions.

The Feltons

Geoff Felton is our minister and is married to Sarah, with three young sons. Following a degree in Geology at Portsmouth Polytechnic, Geoff worked as a geologist in the North Sea oil industry. He then trained for the ministry, studying Theology at London Bible College and then a Postgraduate Diploma in Pastoral Theology at Westminster College. After an internship at St. Thomas’ URC in Watford he became Senior pastor at Canterbury and Ash URC Churches.

In 2010 he and the family answered a call to Plume Avenue.
